As a Buckeye fan, you learn to live with the fact that everyone around you is going to hate you.
I’ve grown up my entire life only knowing a dominant football program, completely different than the team I root for professionally.
Ever since I can remember, Ohio State has been elite. I became a lifelong fan a few years prior to their 2002 National Championship over the Miami Hurricanes, I was finally old enough to comprehend what the big deal was with this team everyone waited all week to watch on Saturdays.
I finally understood.
The past few years I’ve been blessed to be a credentialed media member for a team I’ve grown up loving for over 20 years. It takes your fandom to a new level, you see all the hard work behind the scenes, you get an opportunity to be up close and personal with the players you see on game day. You start to really feel like you have some skin in the game.
This season has been different, I’ve grown tired.
I’m tired of going into these big games, feeling anxious, hoping to avoid any disappointments, and hearing Ryan Day say the phrase “We know it’s going to take all 4 quarters”.
This next stretch of games might be the toughest gauntlet I’ve seen an Ohio State team face outside of the 2024 CFPs that included Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame.
The Buckeyes remaining schedule includes, at Indiana, at USC, Oregon, Northwestern, at Nebraska, TTUN.
The road doesn’t get easier, and anything less than a shot at the Big Ten title and a CFP berth is a failure.
I’m tired of acting like a program that hasn’t been here before, that hasn’t conquered these same games time and time again.
I’ve said it a few times on the podcast this year already and I mean it.
I’m tired of acting like this isn’t the best team in the nation.
I’m ready to let everybody else know what you and I have already figured out.
Every Saturday when the Scarlet & Gray step on the field, we expect them to win, and to win convincingly.
Indiana is up next.
Time to put the world on notice.
O-H.
