Could this Saturday mark the end of the Ryan Day era?
If they lose, I think the answer is clearer than it’s ever been.
I also think the same thing could be said for James Franklin.
Another season, another disappointment, another season in which they failed to beat a team called Ohio State or Michigan (granted if they played this year, I think they’d win).
Franklin’s holds a 3 – 17 record in top 10 matchups.
A 12 – 25 record against top 25 matchups, and an overall record of 4 – 16 against Ohio State and Michigan combined.
For as much as opposing fan bases want to highlight Ryan Days inability to win big games, there’s been one team he has consistently beat every time he’s matched up with them.
The Penn State Nittany Lions.
This weekend is James Franklin’s shot at redemption. Win and you eliminate Ohio State’s chance at a Big Ten title, vastly increase the chances of them being left out of the expanded playoffs, and potentially end the tenure of Ryan Day at the helm of the Buckeyes.
Ryan Day simply can’t afford to lose this game.
I’ve talked about it all season long on here, on the podcast, and on our socials (@rivalpod).
This team is far too talented to fall short of ANYTHING less than competing for a Big Ten title and a spot in the playoffs.
Despite all of that, I still believe in this team, these players, and this coaching staff.
Every goal is still attainable. Everything is right there for the taking for the Scarlet and Grey.
They just need to reach out and grab it.
Penn State stands in the way of all that on Saturday in Beaver Stadium.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a bad day to be a Nittany Lion.
Go Bucks!
