JP’s Thoughts

Kyle McCord gone.

The inevitable swarm of players who will sit out of the Bowl game to preserve their draft stock and to not risk any injuries.

If you aren’t in the playoffs, bowl games just look a lot different now a days.

Ohio State isn’t immune to this.

They will be without their starting QB, potentially their starting RB, and a mix of other players who as of now have yet to announce their intentions.

This will be an exciting showcase for some of their young guys to go out their and show Buckeye nation that the program is in good hands despite the disappointment the past three seasons.

Give me all the Carnell Tate, Brandon Innis, and Dallan Hayden.

I’m ready to see what the young guys have in store.

It’s time to show the world, we are still THE Ohio State University.

Go Bucks!

Jace’s Thoughts

The sky may not be falling in Columbus.
That doesn’t mean we don’t hear the support beams creaking.

Ohio State may lose every offensive skill position starter this off-season.
No, seriously.

QB: Kyle McCord (Syracuse)
RB: TreVeyon Henderson (Undecided – likely NFL)
RB: Miyan Williams (NFL)
RB: Chip Trayanum (Kentucky)
WR: Marvin Harrison Jr. (NFL)
WR: Emeka Egbuka (Undecided – likely NFL)
WR: Julian Fleming (Penn State)
TE: Cade Stover (Undecided – likely NFL)

Yes. I have listed MHJ to the NFL.
This is because there is a 0.0% chance of Marvin Harrison Jr. returning.

The only truly undecided pieces are: RB TreVeyon Henderson, WR Emeka Egbuka, and TE Cade Stover.
All three have – at 11:34 AM on December 19th – played their cards close to the vest.
Henderson is the only one with a real shot to return, in my opinion.

Is that indicative that Ohio State is about to become Purdue or Arkansas or some other school you forget is actually a Division 1 program? Unfortunately, no.

But is it fair to say that Ryan Day was handed a Ferrari, crashed it three consecutive Novembers, and is now looking at having to wait for replacement parts? Yes, actually.

For years, the Buckeyes have touted that they don’t rebuild, they reload.
For years that was true. But for the first time in a long time, the Buckeyes may finally be facing a rebuild.

And I trust Ryan Day with that rebuild about as much as I trust Brian Hartline with an ATV.
