Over the last couple of days, you’ve probably heard Buckeye fans shouting online through various platforms calling for Ryan Day’s tenure as Head Coach to be over.

Look, Saturday was as frustrating a loss as I can remember. I get the criticism and to be honest, he deserves A LOT of it.

But let’s calm down for a second.

Ryan Day has been an excellent Coach for Ohio State. In his 102 games as the Head Coach, he has gone 88 – 14, that’s an 86.3% winning percentage.

He has never lost more than 2 games in a season, including playoff games.

Under his leadership, the Buckeyes have competed for the National Championship twice, winning once.

If you erased the name and presented that resume to any football program in America, they sign the contract 10/10 times, no question!

So why are Buckeye fans so set on getting rid of this man?

As someone who has been there before, I understand it.

Ryan Day rarely loses in the regular season; it’s in the brightest lights where his flaws are exposed.

Take away his historic 2024 playoff run and his playoff resume dwindles significantly.

His record against TTUN? Let’s not start.

In the biggest games, when the pressure is at its peak, Ryan Day collapses in on himself.

He did it again on Saturday, for all of Los Angeles to witness.

Had you told me prior, OSU would have 460+ total yards, 200+ on the ground, and that Ohio State controlled the ball for 39+ minutes, I’d have assumed the Buckeyes walked out of the Coliseum victors.

However, despite those statistics, they didn’t just lose. They got embarrassed.

From the second the whistle blew; USC wanted it more. They showed it time and time again, play after play, quarter after quarter.

An Ohio State team coming off a BYE week, with two weeks of preparation, looked and played like a student who forgot they had a test and decided to try and pull an all nighter.

This team’s path is still right in front of them, they can win out, they can make the Big Ten Championship, and they can make the College Football Playoffs.

But they can’t be the team I saw on the field on Saturday night.

And it starts with the Head Coach.

Where this team goes, rests solely on the shoulders of the man in charge.

Time to see what he’s really about.

O-H!
