Since October 8th, 1988, the Ohio State Buckeyes haven’t lost to the Indiana Hoosiers.
In that span, the Buckeyes are an incredible 30-0-1.
I’m begging for that streak to continue this Saturday in Columbus.
Indiana Head Coach Curt Cignetti marches into the Shoe for the first time leading the best team the Hoosiers have fielded in program history.
If you aren’t familiar with Coach Cignetti, just google him, he wins.
I’m hoping that changes on Saturday.
Kurtis Rourke, the Ohio transfer, has sparked this Indiana offense, averaging one of the nation’s best 43.9 ppg. The defense has also shown up to the party with a top 10 defense in the country. They’re impressive. You can say whatever you want about their strength of schedule, and while I think that’s fair to an extent, discrediting what this team has accomplished is choosing to be ignorant.
I hope Ryan Day and Co aren’t taking this team lightly, because if they come out slow, the Hoosiers have the capability to make you pay, and fast.
Indiana’s defense ranks number one in rush defense, allowing a mere 72 ypg. If Ohio State has any chance of winning this weekend, it starts in the trenches.
This is a game where I think the fresh legs of Judkins & Henderson will be key. Those two will need to have success on the ground to help open up that dangerous air attack. If the Ohio State offense becomes one dimensional, hold onto your butts.
On the defensive side of the ball, Ohio State’s secondary will be put to the test. Denzel Burke and Davison Igbinosun will have their hands full covering the Hoosier’s explosive playmakers. Both Burke and Igbinosun have had their share of head scratching games this season, and hopefully Saturday will be the time they get back on track.
The Buckeyes have the experience, the talent, and the motivation to come out the victors on Saturday, but will they pull it off?
I think so, but it may cause you a few heart attacks along the way.
