October 20th, 2018 ruined my life.
The Buckeyes walked into Ross-Ade Stadium with an undefeated record, a roster loaded with talent, and expectations of a national championship.
And then the Boilermakers appeared. Tyler Trent appeared, and the Buckeyes hopes of a national championship season came crashing down right in front of their eyes.
One of the most embarrassing losses in Buckeye history.
However, the Purdue team walking into the Shoe on Saturday was nothing like that 2018 team despite having very similar records.
And it showed.
The Buckeyes took control early and never looked back. They did everything you would expect the #2 team in the nation to do against an inferior opponent.
Freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith now holds the freshman record for yards, catches, and touchdowns in Ohio State history. The dude is SPECIAL. The hype IS and SHOULD be real. NFL scouts will be salivating for a chance to draft him when his time in Columbus is over.
He’s a difference maker.
This team has 3 games left in the regular season. Northwestern, Indiana, and TTUN.
They have no more room for errors, and they seem to be clicking at just the right time.
But they still must handle business.
Ohio State | Northwestern Preview
This weekend should look and feel the same as last weekend. Northwestern doesn’t do a lot of anything well, and their record shows it.
Ohio State’s game plan will look very similar to how it did against Purdue. A healthy dose of Judkins and Henderson early, build up a large lead, get everybody the heck outta there. Go back home and start your prep for Indiana, cause they’re coming.
At this point in the year, making sure your core guys remain healthy is of upmost importance. Losing a guy like Will Howard or anymore offensive lineman in a game where the outcome is already in hand would be senseless.
Expect a nice relaxing Buckeye game on Saturday, and then hold onto your butt for Indiana, cause as their coach Curt Cignetti has said numerous times “He wins, google him”.
Go Bucks!
